Nurburgring
Anybody remember the link to the 100+ meg file of the motorcycle doing a lap of the Nurburgring?? It woudl be appreciated.
PS, if you haven't downloaded the "getaway" clip.. do it.. it can be found on the 944 BBS. Also, I'm getting "rendevous" soon, maybe I can load it up.. would need someone to host it though.. |

I'm the one who originally posted the motorcycle link. However I can't remember the link, oops, sorry. Guess you need to look through the archives... At least you can aim your search for my name...

A buddy on the Vintage Race list just sent me a copy of Rendezvous (directed by Claude Lelouch)
Might be able to buy it here: http://www.makebigdaddyrich.com/Ferrari%20Videos.htm Not cheap, but then again this is a Porsche board. One 275GTB driven flat out through the streets of Paris at dawn. At least a dozen red lights ignored, several pigeons sent to the great beyond, hundreds of Frenchmen rudely awoken. |

you know - I have to retract or at least question my last post (the part about the car driving "flat out").
When I watched "Rendezvous" for the first time last night I was thrilled, but something seemed a little fishy that I couldn't quite put my finger on. The sounds (engine reving and tires squealing) were well timed, but the squealing tires didn't quite seem to match what was happening on the the screen. Also when the "Ferrari" (you never see the car) passes other traffic the closing speed doesn't seem as great as the wailing engine suggests. I did a search on Google.com for "rendezvous ferrari" and up came this review on amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/stores/detail/-/video/6302874408/customer-reviews/107-6103596-9022119 ***** Poor quality 10 minute video of a car travelling through Paris. Camera angles from a low height and dubbed-in sound give an illusion of extreme speed, but the car never exceeds 70 miles per hour (I timed it with a stopwatch using known landmarks). Sorry guys, but don't waste your money on this one. Try "Le Mans" with Steve McQueen or "Grand Prix" with James Garner. ****** Watch it yourself and be the judge. I woudln't spend $60 on it thats for sure. There is no doubt about the blown red lights though. |
