I got sucked by the 962...pic
i can only imagine the downforce it produced at 180+ MPH !!! The car had to stick to the road like a glue, sucking the last amount of air available with that type of downforce...

I recall reading that a CART Indy car could drive upside down at speeds above 100 mph due to downforce.

Modern Formula One cars can generate upwards of 2 tons of downforce at speed. 4000 pounds of downforce on a 1700 pound car! That reminds me, the Australian GP (season opener) is just around the corner, any die-hard F1 fans out there?

Freefly, I'll be there. It's going to kickass! Can't wait to see those italians get upstaged by McLaren.
![]() By the way, on the topic of downforce, I loved pointing out to people that were amazed at the 180 kg that the Ferrari 360 develops at 290kmh, that the McLaren F1 develops enough downforce at 100 mph to sustain it's own weight. Effectively, it COULD drive across the ceiling. AC ------------------ Adam Chaplin adamchaplin@optushome.com.au 1976 911S Coupe My Gallery Profile |
