keeper uppers. Having a devil of a time with a deck lid. Any hints on how to compress and keep compressed the damn things long enough to install? I am about to remove the deck and try that.

Are you talking about the gas struts that hold up the engine and front deck lids? The is no need to compress them to install them. Put the pins in that hold the bottom part of the strut in place. Then you will be able to lift the lid up high enough to put the top pin in place.

That doesn't sound right at all. Double check that you have the correct replacements. I usually just prop the lid up with a stick or my head. The tough part is getting the clips on/off in the tight space. And not losing them. Ken

If the struts are that long, you chance hyper-extending the lid.
