P:icture needed please... behind rear reflector
I have been searching tonight and cannot seem to find this. I need a picture of the area behind the reflector when it (reflector) has been removed... I have an 83. I am planning a small project but would prefer to see what this area looks like before I take the chance of prying mine carefully off. Thanks in advance

I will get you one tomorrow off my 84 if you still need it by then....

It's held on with nuts. Don't pry it off.

To acess the nuts you have to remove the muffler. Once the muffler is removed you will see a sheet metal panel. Remove that panel and you will see the reflector nuts.

Nice looking rear Larry!!!!! Which white is that?
Hope to have mine lookin like that sometime in the next couple of months. Helmethead |
I thought the later ones (like 78/79 and later) had platic barbed clips. Did I get some wrong info?
|
Yours uses plastic studs on the reflector which go into metal barbed clips in the panel shown.
The only way I've found to remove the reflector without breaking it is to use a thin sharp awl or even an ice pick to spread each individual barb open to release the reflector stud. There is a top and bottom barb for each stud. You can reuse the clips by bending them back into place. |

Barbed clips. Gently pry it off.....

Definitely the barbed clips. I've got an 83 also and disassembled mine a couple months ago.

Sorry, my mistake. I have only seen the earlier ones with nuts.
