Sachs Clutch Kit Question

Purchased a Sachs clutch kit for my 82SC (OEM version). The throwout bearing only came with a spacer, one washer and the lock ring (the box was sealed). By my manual, I am missing the spring washer. Am I suppose to salvage the remaining part from the old throwout hardware? That seems contradictory to all the other suggesting of replacing hardware with new components. Also, I’ve read the excellent tech article on this web site that recommends changing the clutch fork. Is this necessary? I’d like to do the job right…but it is another $70-90s. Thanks for the help.

Bruce, the first G50's had problems with the fork and that upgrade should be done on the 87 and 88 models. Is that what you are referring to? An 82 usually doesn't have a G50.

Mrdi-
I called it the wrong name. It is the throw out bearing (release) arm. It is what actuates the clutch via the throw out bearing.

I wasn't going to replace my fork, though it was recommended. Wound up bending mine (be sure to engage the forks into the groove ont he outer edge of the TOB, so it can PULL the TOB) and replaced it. It bent but did not break, so I was thinking they are not =rone to breaking, but others say they are prone to breaking and it was good to replace it.

As for your original question on the spring washer. The answer is yes that it should have come with the clutch kit. I got the same kit when I replaced my clutch and it came with it. I elected to pass on replacing the guide fork as mine was functioning great and it showed no signs of weakness or corrosion.
