I just lost an auction for a saratoga top on ebay!

The guy who one bid $1334.00! I think I'll get the a/c fixed, and recover, CORRECTLY, my own targa top instead. Damn, those things go for a pretty penny!

For something that fit poorly, leaked and generally was a magnet for scratches?

Consider yourself lucky....

I have an oem hard top on my targa that i paid $1200.00 for . I guess i should feel lucky, i got it before the rush. Although it has gone up in value drastically, i don't think i would sell at all. Soft top targas go tinkel , bang, rattle- rattle- hard top targas go swooosh!!!!! jerry JMPRO

I have a Saratoga top on my 72 911T. Best thing I have ever bought for the car. I was bidding on one on Ebay a few months ago and it got into 4 figures too. Picked mine up from an ad in the Panorama classifieds for $700.00 I believe. If you get a nice one, you won't regret it. The only problems I have is it won't fit in the trunk with my setup (junk in the trunk)and I get tired of wiping the handprints off after I go out.

Yeah, my car came with an OEM Targa Top and I've no other anyhow, didn't know that they went for so much.
Can someone post the Ebay link to the saratoga targa top so I can look at what one looks like??
Cheers,
Anthony

If they go for that kind of money then it looks like an opportunity for some entepreneur to have a small batch of the things made. How big is the market out there?

I HAVE DONE A LOT OF RESEARCH ON REPRODUCING THE HARD TOP FOR T-CARS. IT IS TO EXPENSIVE TO DO WITH A PRODUCT WITH THIS SMALL A MARKET. THE TOOL COSTS, HARDWARE, RUBBER SEALS,MARKETING,ALL MAKE A HIGH $ PART AND YOU CAN'T PUT OUT A CHEAP PRODUCT , THE BBS JUNKIES WOULD TEAR YOU UP. A COMPROMISE MAY BE A FIBERGLASS COVER FOR A TARGA FRAME, BUT THAT WOULD REQUIRE SOME SKILL TO INSTALL. I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON THIS PROJECT FOR OVER A YEAR AND STILL NO SOLID ANSWERS -- ANY THOUGHTS?
