Wheel interchangeability question
 

I have the opportunity to purchase a set of Porsche OEM wheels complete with Michelin winter tires for a reasonable price. The wheels were originally for an '89 944 and my car is an '83 911 SC. Front wheels are 205/55 16" , same as my SC and rears are 225/50 16's same as my SC.

The question is whether the offsets and bolt patterns are the same. Does anyone know for sure before I drive out there this Friday

Bolt pattern is the same.
You listed the tire sizes. Do you know the width of the wheels?
The offsets should be fine UNLESS the fronts are 8 inch wide. Most likely they are 7's, though.

The bolt pattern is fine, but the late 944 offset is around 52.3mm or 55mm depending on the type of wheel.

The 911SC will need large spacers to make them fit. 6x16 Fuchs is 36 mm, 7x16 is ~23 mm

Wheels from the 944-I fit, those of the 2nd series don't as they have a different off-set. The 1989 is a series 2 I'm afraid.

Your 911 needs wheels with the offset of the Fuchs wheels.
You will see that of all original 16" wheels only the Fuchs will fit.
Of the other designs, only the older 15" cookie cutters, phone dials and 15"Fuchs will fit your 911.
You can make the other types fit your car by using spacers between the hub and the wheel by the way.

You didn't list wheel widths - important. You didn't say what wheels they are either.

But you will definitely need serious spacers to make them work on an SC.

And they may still look awkward. IMO
