transmission swap
What is involved in swapping in a 901 in
place of a 915? I have an older engine and 901 I want to use while rebuilding my 2.4 and 915. 72T and donor is 2.2 and 901 patrick |

Well, at least you don't have to worry about the wheelbase change, but at the minimum, you will need the axles and CV's from the donor car ... the 915 is wider, axles are shorter than 901 versions. You probably should check the center-to-center distance for mounts on the trans mount/crossmember, too. Electrics could be an issue, unless both alternators are identical, which might or might not be true. Bosch alternators don't like Motorola/Marchal regulators, and vice-versa! CDI's are the same. Fuel pumps might not be the same, depending on carbs/MFI differences.

I pretty sure the bolts on the 915 tranny mount are centered the same as the 901. However you will need the tranny mount bar for the 901.
