I just went to the links suggested in Superman's model number thread.
Says there's an article by our esteemed host in the March issue "Charging ahead Is your air-cooled 911 not keeping its electrical department up to scratch? yes, excellent stuff. In the same months edition there is an article on the oil level sender unit. Mine had stopped working, I checked the wiring (broken) and it is now fully operational.
