73 RS look Project

After seeing that post by David of the RS look I am dead set on making one of those beauties for myself. What is required to make one of them? I plan on doing a custom interior and authenticity isn't overly important to me. Ducktail is a must and so are RS flares. I guess the most pressing question is pretaining to suspension. What will need to be fabricated and/or modified to hook some better suspension components on it?

I really like the way the RS looks higher in the rear, is that the suspension?

Adam,

No suspension changes needed, other than 27 mm and 54 mm spacers, 72 mm and 100 mm studs, and 8" and 9" Fuchs. An RS 3.0/IROC lookalike would be easier to do on your car and just as impressive!

I looked into the IROC look and I like it but I would HAVE to do the ducktail. Is it possible to do the long hood conversion on my car? I hate to say it is "backdating" but it does look nice.

One other thing I need to consider is the age of a pre-73 chassis. It will qualify me for cheap insurance (I currently pay about $3000/year) and also will get me by the emmisions testing here in Canada (car didn't originally come with emmisions equipment so I am exempt).

Is the suspension Beefy enough on just any ol' 69- 73 car for sport purposes? What makes the early cars so much lighter and (supposedly) agile.

David's car isn't quite an RS look as it has the flares on the front for one.
It looked to me like the car had 1970 ST type flares.
The ST had 15X9 FUCHS all the way around, but no ducktail.
As far as the flares and wheels go, 73 RSR had 15X9's in front and 15X11's rear, 9" front flares, 11" rear flares. 73RS had 8" flares in the rear, 15X7 with spacers (or 15X8), standard front fenders, 15X6 (or 15X7).
I thought about going the RS look but I actually am quite hapy with mine the way it is so I sold my factory 1 piece rear bumper!

To be quite honest, I'm not overly concerned with factory spec and exact reproduction. I love the cars but I think I would prefer to customize a project.

I'm kinda like that, I like my stuff, my way. As for the wheels and flares, I think I would go with the turbo (9" and 11") or RSR flares and it looks like thats what hes got on there.

Thanks for the input, keep it comming...

The RSR was the road I was going down, only with a twist, it was going to be a RSR cab. the long hood cars look kind of cool with no top.
