WOW!! I boughta a 87 carrera today

A few weeks ago I sold my 65 911 This sounds like blastpmy but wait I had the car for 3-4 year was a great car loved it but was getting tired of carbs and fouled plugs And the general things that a 40 some year old car offers"character" So I today I became the owner of a 87 carrera This car rocks smooth you can carry on a conversation in the car I can hear the radio. I just did a 600 mile trip to pick the car up and drive it home. I really can't say enogh good things about the car.

Good for you! Carreras are the sublime and much improved version of the SC no matter what the SCWD-plotters will have you believe.

Good for you....I just finished a 2 year resto on a 58 A.....sold it after two weeks of driving it.

Carbs and gas smell, while reminding me of High School and Betty Sue's boobs....just don't do it for me any more.

My fake has a Megasquirt and my 83 has Motronic.....go FI go....

I love the colour and the wheels, well done. 87 is a great year, and I can appreciate your need for something more modern. My wife won't ride in my machine, too bumpy/oily/deafening/and she can't see out of it (she's 4'11"). I've thought of moving up to a nice 3.2 /964 /993 as well, but I doubt I could ever part with my baby.

I sold a '71 and now own an '88. I know exactly what you're talking about. Of course now no one on the Early S Registry will talk to me, but....

That's a pretty nice looking car.

Tony:

Great looking G50 Carrera!

It really can be argued that the G50 cars are the "sweet spot" in 911 production. Damn, you are lucky!

if you read the history of der porschen fabrik, they were having mucho mgmt turnovers, DOT was on their ass, smog was a huge factor, fuel a factor, they had to do something good to stay in biz.

remember they are a very small car company in big scheme of things. the quantum leaps they have made from when i was 16(1975) until the 87-89 era cars is huge. it is a wonder they stayed in biz w/a rear engined car, hence the 924 944 928 etc. programs.

i cant even imagine owning anything built earlier.

my 1987 is enough of a pain in the ass even with all the quantum leaps made.

but i wouldnt have it any other way!

a/c blows about 37 degrees, heater works great and it hauls ass! 119K on it.

Very nice! You can't beat the 87-89!

Funny how 911s are so relative, though. Coming from a 65, the 87 is a smooth, quiet cruiser to you. But to most people, and 87 is rough, noisy, and fairly primitive.

(I think the 87-89 is the perfect blend, and the high point of the 911 line).

Congrats on the 87. The G50 is said to put the 87's and beyond a notch above the pre-87 Carreras. I have an 86 Carrera and I absolutely love it. It runs so smooth and could be my daily driver. Is there anyone out there that is gung ho on the 86's?
