Weltmeister Optima Batter Mount Q's
I just purchased the Weltmeister Standard Optima Battery Mount, OPT-883034, from our host and have a few questions about how to use it (no instructions were included).
First, my Optima Red Top battery does not fit inside the outer lips of the mount; the battery base is as wide as the outer width of the sides of the mount, so it sits on top. Not sure if this is how it is supposed to be, but it looks wrong, especially because the mounting bolts will barely clear the battery base if installed this way. Second, my red top battery does not have any mounting holes in the base. Must I drill holes in the battery base to make it fit? If so, this seems like a rather crude design for such an expensive ($32) piece of thin, cheap metal. Finally, am I the only sucker who bought this rather than making one of these mounts out of a cutting board? Thanks.

While I followed the cutting board crowd (cheap, will never corrode, and I loved the "optima battery adapter for 911 from wal-mart" thread), I also had to drill holes in the optima battery base for the mounting bolts.
It's not too late - cutting boards are still available!! ![]()

I got my barrery mount at Wal-Mart too.
There were holes in the battery for mounting but they had to be enlarged. ![]()
