Help with identifying P/N

My distributor has P/N - 0231184007.
Anyone know what the factory parts book say this is? Thanks.

Hi Carlo,

I hope all is well. This is a strange one, since a disributor with this number came up on Ebay a while ago. He told me it was from his 72"E", but none of the current books I have identify this part at all. 007 does not show up in any of the later cars, but the "184" is noted for 72 and 73 along with 74-77 models, but it is noted as an early distributor. I will continue to look for the 007 identification. Maybe it was special for James Bond's car... who knows!

Drop me an email to catch up or I will catch up with you next week.

Marc

Hi Marc,

Everything is well thanks! Hope the same holds true for you.

My motor as I probably mentioned to you before is a factory 911/83, 663 S/N'd motor. It was in a 73S I used to own which had carbs back then. Anyway, I've since installed it in my 72S with MFI (pump P/N-0408126019). I was going over the factory workshop manual last night and the P/N for a 73 RS distributor doesn't match what I have so I was just curious.

I know someone who owns an original 73RS and he says my motor drives like an RS should.

Carlo,

I have a spare RS-spec distributor that I bought from PMO about 15 years ago that has Bosch pn 0.231.184.004 on it, so maybe yours is a later replacement than mine.

Thanks Warren.

The factory workshop manual P/N for the 73RS distributor is 0231169011 so I was just wondering why mine was different, but as you say it may have been a supercession.
By the way, I was looking at the old Automotion catalog and the P/N 0231184004 for your spare distributor is listed for the "1974-75 Carrera".

Carlo,

If that is the case, it must be for the 'real' European Carrera 2.7, not the USA version which had the previous 'T' distributor from the 2.4, and this one had the '206' 7300 rpm rotor as sealed in the Bosch box!
