Seat thread ,wish I had known.........
This is what I think I know after much frustration running back and forth to a dealer about seats.
1 - Sport seats are hard to beat weight wise after all things have been installed . They are about 33 lbs with all hard ware.. will tilt back , sliders and so on. After market seats start out real light,... but in the end with all brackets, sliders, will be about the same weight. I tried Sparco "Street Fighters" , these were with in 3 to 4 lbs of my stock seats, made me sit too high , and my knees were into the steer wheel. Thankfully the vendor took them back and sold me Recaro " Pole Position" seats. These are a couple lbs more hvy then the Sparco but with the sliders and brackets are much liter - about 26 lbs total. These seats sit me dwn a lot lower, and have for and aft adj , will allow room for a helmet ......and a few more $$$$$. All in all the right choice for me,, and some day will allow me to get on the track. This has been my experience.....yours may very from mine

My experience with height has been pretty close to the same. The first set of seats I put in my 74 had my helmet touching the roof. Then I switced to a set of recaro profi spg's and I sit down lower but still not as low as stock. Some day I will build a custom set of mounts to drop them to stock height or lower.

Can't beat the pole positions for a street track seat in my opinion. My power seats were 40ish lbs if I recall so the weight savings was a little better. I agree that when you add side mounts and sliders, the weight starts to add up.
Just be glad you didn't lose the the inside seat belt mounting point when you removed the factory seat. ![]()

As usual I post too many pics. I picked up a set of used Konigs sport seats for first year DE and the sit ~2" lower than stock and weigh about the same. So far they are way more secure than the stock SC seats and will do until my driving skills improve to need better seats. YMMV

Well .....not that this will be the mother of all seat threads,,,,, but...sure would be nice for all to chime in with their seat experience so as the rest of the "crew" can get some enlightenment b4 spending the big bucks $$
What this dose show, Is Porsche sure did their home work b4 mass producing a seat for the street

I like the Recaro SRD seats in my '80. My drivers side seat is bolted directly to the seat rails and provides about an inch or so more head room compared to my stock SC seats. The pass side seat is attached to the slider and that seat setup provides about 1/2" additional head room.
Once my seats broke in a bit they became very comfy in addition to being much more supportive than stock (Recaro) non-sport seats. |

this may have been unsafe, not sure, but in my targa, I installed Momo Corses and adjustable tracks onto aluminum flat stock (1" x .25") which spanned the floor and bolted up to the factory sheetmetal.
Couldn't have been more than 20 pounds total per seat. Sat very low (perfect) and they were super comfortable, even though they were in a fixed vertical position.

Tim nice seats. Your transporter must have been very skilled not to mess them up in shipping.
![]() I have Recaro SRD's in my car. Much lighter than stock seats and bolted right into the stock brackets. I had the old ones out and the new ones in after just a few minutes. The SRD's are wicked awesome.

Are any of you guys with Pole Positions tall? The reason I ask is that when I went to try out seat fitments (at Speedware), the salesman said the harness slots in the Recaros were to low for my torso. I'm about 6'1", and I think my torso is about normal for my height, so I'm surprised that Recaro's are too small for me.
For what it's worth, the only fixed back seat that had high enough slots was the Sparco Evo 2+. Also, is there any concensus on what brand of mount puts the seat lowest?

Do not know about the harness situation....but to get the tracks to work on "street fighters" you will have to shim the front of the seat up @ least 1 inch......might work for some..but put my knees right into the wheel
