Sorry to hear about the loss.... hope you had uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage as part of your policy. I see a bit of jail time here for the offenders.

Sorry, Juan, about the car, but you were lucky not to become another statistic, yourself! And that really was the important part of the outcome! Hopefully, the driver will suffer the full impact of the court system, which is slowly starting to take these forms of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon seriously!

Jaun,
I'm so sorry to hear this. But glad to hear you'r ok. The penality for a hit-and-run to a Porsche should be justification for an enhanced penalty. ----------------------- Paul 78SC Targa |

Sad story Juan and be glad you lived to tell the tale. Hopefully those irresponsible morons will get what they have coming to them. Good luck finding a replacement baby.

I feel for you Juan, atleast your alright. If the insurance calls it a write off see if you can buy it back (usually VERY cheap) and perhaps you can use the parts to build a new one.
I hate to try and be positive when something so horrible happens but now you can do it again and do it the way you want it. Think about all you learned from building your car and about the things that you would do different. I only hope that you are compensated properly for the dammage and that your insurance understands how much money you had in that car. Anyhow, your alright, so that is what really counts. Juan -
I'm glad you're OK too. Now do what you need to do to track that driver down and put them in jail. In the meantime...it's time to start shopping, once you get over the grief of losing your baby. Damn Juan, I guess this is testimony to all who thought YOU were the wreckless one.
I don't know what it is going to take for the American public to wake up and realize that unless you permanently jail an alcololic you cannot stop them. This DUI bull**** is just another taxation method that has nothing to do with safety. Anyone who thinks a DUI is going to stop an alcoholic from drinking knows nothing about addiction. The scumbag leagal system knows this too, but you can't get fines out of someone in jail. Well, I guess you can now take pen and paper in hand and plan out your ultimate street dragcar, Porsche or otherwise. Just glad you weren't hurt. Be sure you post the results of your days in court, this aughta be good. [This message has been edited by RarlyL8 (edited 03-04-2001).] |

Juan,
Glad to hear you are ok! Sad to hear about your car though! At least you have a parts car now right? But really, its time our country did something like Sweden: Get caught drunk driving once, lose your license for life. Nick. ------------------ _ ______ _ Nick Shumaker 1982 911SC Coupe |

I foresee some posts in the 'used 911 parts for sale' section of the BBS. Despite your loss, you can probably make some $$$ off of your accident! Buy back the car from the insurance company (they will usually sell it to you for less than they would get for it at an auction).
Parted out your car is probably worth at least $6K. I know that the engine should be worth $4500 if it was an SC (not sure how I came to that conclusion). Glad to hear that you are ok! -Wayne |

The question is, "are you O.K. Juan"? I mean physically and psychologically? That kind of thing can really upset a person and make them lose sleep etc. That's pretty traumatic, you came very close to death! I'm very glad you are alive!

Juan:
Glad to hear you are okay. Sorry about the loss. I could never afford to carry the insurance to cover that kind of loss, so I would have to rely on parting out and the courts. Bleak. Hope you come out okay. Beware the insurance companies attitude on performance stuff. You could be better off if they don't know, but then again. Good luck. Dan |

Glad you were not injured. Do not hesitate to see a doctor or counselor. Like the Phoenix bird, your car can rise again, more beautiful. You will need a new shell to start.

Glad to hear you are okay!
Last week I called my insurance company and ask them specifically how to not get screwed if the car is stolen or wrecked. I say screwed because the insurance companies go off of the Kelley Blue Book value, which is not realistic for Porsche cars. They told me to have it appraised by a few people and have good list of maintenance and pictures to support your higher than KBB value. Then said with this evidence they will pay the appraised value. This maybe good for you since you could get a local PCA person, concours guy?, to retro appraise your car, since they knew the car and could value it. Also if you have the upgrade receipts and good pictures you may be set also. Just a thought so insurance does not screw you. Good Luck! ------------------ Adrian Pillow 1979 911 SC 1966 VW Microbus PCA - Peachstate Region |
