Alloy spare wheel for SC & Carrera?

In researching to see if an alloy spare wheel from a 964 will fit my 911, I saw something odd. PET indicates that the "emergency wheel with collapsible tire" used for the 964 is a 5.5J x 15 wheel part #928 362 030 02. It also lists that this spare wheel was used on the (early) 928 & 944. I then noticed that PET lists this same part number for 78+ 911s, while the earlier models (with appropriate gas tank) used the steel wheel part #911 361 028 11.

I thought that only the 930s came with an alloy spare, and that all other 911s came with the std 15" steel spare? Is the steel spare simply being superseded by PET to the alloy part?

So two questions:

1) Did any of the SC/Carrera's come with the alloy spare wheel above?
2) Since PET lists the alloy spare for the 78+ 911s, I assume it will fit any year 911 with the space-saver gas tanks (i.e.; there will be no issue with using the spare from a 964 in my 77, from both the storage and usage perspective (offset))?

thanks,
Frank

16 x 6" Fuchs will fit a 22.5 gas tank ( 3.0 / 3.2) using a 993 collapsible spare tire. Fits as well as the 5.5 x 15 steel wheel / collapsible combo.

See here---> Collapsable Spare with Fuchs

Wil,

Thanks. Yes, I saw that thread when I starting researching this a while ago. I looked into it, but the total cost of going the Fuch route wasn't worth it to me when compared to the price I can pickup a 964 spare. And at least at this point I don't have big calipers to require the 16" spare, although at some point down the road I suspect I'll be looking into this, which brings up another question - will a 993 spare wheel have an issue when used on a 911 due to the different offset?

thanks,
Frank
