SC Front Valance question. WHat is this?
 

What is this hanging under the valance on this SC? I've never seen this on a 911 before.

If your refering to the tubular bar, it is there to protect the air condensor and attaches to the front of the a-arms.

I'm referring to the large black thing, that runs parallel to the valance, not the small loop on the drivers side (tow hook?).

Was this an option?

I have it on my 83SC it is behind the black valance at bottom and is there to protect the front ac condersor coil.

Oh, so if you have the rubber air dam on the valance, then you can't see it?

Yes, this is a half inch steal bar and it is hidden when the front chin spoiler is added.

Mine has a few scratches on it so I am happy it is there http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/smile.gif

Mine gets lots of use, like this morning when I pulled into the parking lot here at work, or when I back down my driveway too quickly.

There is also a metal mesh grate behind the bar and underneath the a/c condenser. When I bought my car this grate was heavily rusted and losing big flakes of rusted metal. I removed and sanded it, then sprayed with black rust neutraliser.
