I normally don't make an issue...

But this time I have to...I bought a SC gas tank off the board from kcpaz a couple weeks ago. We agreed to a price and to include shipping. He got a ridiculous quote from UPS (more than the agreed purchase price) and said he would try other methods...USPS, Greyhound etc. He had yet to cash my check I might add...now frustrated with the other "solutions , he went back to UPS and essentially begged them to reconsider the size of the package. They agreed to ship it as a standard (not oversize)....the shipping was still 3 times what we expected. It arrived with a VERY creative boxhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1196471976.jpg

The tank was in great shape, he busted his butt to get a deal done...even though he could have backed out of the agreement at any time.
My hat goes off to this kind of board member.

kcpaz....thanks man! The SWB car thanks you. :D

Outstanding! I too had a great experience with a member who sold me his Magnecor Wires, Thanks Joe!

USPS lied and said they made an attempt but no notice was left, those liars! No problem, the next day USPS dropped it off.

Good story!

Pelicans have looked after me a few times when sending stuff to Australia, beyond the call of duty type stuff... I'm always greatful.

Cheers

Thats great to hear!!

Are you going to consider reimbursing him for, at least, some of the expense? I know I've under-estimated shipping at times and just ate it...but this is excessive. My hat's off to the seller!

Thrlls 11-30-2007 09:41 PM

Nice to see positive postings on sale transactions.
It helps to reinforce the trust and honor Pelicanites should have for each other!
After all, this is not eBay.

kcpaz 11-30-2007 09:47 PM

Well I'm just happy that everything worked out for you. I don't expect any kind or reimbursment. We made a deal, and I stick by it. Like "Thrlls" said, this isn't Ebay, it's a community of like minded enthusiests who are here to help each other out. Others have helped me in the past, and it's only fair to contribute to the cause. :D

eBay shipping sucks!
Good post, although your subject line has a negative connotation?

ok ok, sorry I can't hold looking at the box. I agree with "speedo", very creative. You lucky can make them take it as standard.

The shocking part is that UPS responded to his begging.

It's refreshing to see someone actually take the time to properly package an item. Thumbs up to KCPAZ!

I recently won an auction for a rare/expensive rear bumper for a '73 T/A. Seller charged a butt-load for packing/shipping. How did it arrive? Wrapped in one (thin) sheet of bubble wrap, with the ends sticking out. Fortunately, it wasn't damaged, but could have been much worse.

What are people thinking? How ****** stupid can you be not to wrap/pad/box something that someone just sent you a bucketful of $$$ for?

/rant off/
