What do I use on gaskets

Getting ready to install new valve cover, cam cover and oil breather gaskets. The lower valve cover gaskets have the green silicon bead rest just look like thick gasket material. Should I use any type of gasket sealer on these? If so what? Thanks!

I was wondering about this too.

When putting my CV Joints back on, the gaskets would slip.

I was wondering if there was a good way to keep them on until it is sealed.
