Lug nuts

Anyone know how to bring back the shine and black to worn out lug nuts?

Is it the same process as refinishing Fuch black centers...or should I take them to be anodized...or just paint and bake? Or pay lotsa money to buy a whole new set...some I will replace because of dents and scratches...

thanks

Paint will come off as soon as you put a socket on them. Even powder paint is not up to the job, new is relatively cheap. Or buy 944 8x16's for the front and 930 9x16's for the rear, with their recessed lug seats you will not notice the bolts as much.

MJ,
I just got thru replacing my lug nut on my 83SC.Last year I tried painting them, that worked for 6 to 8 months but after that they started looking worse than before.I bit the bullet and bought new ones,I'm very happy with my wheels now,if yours are bad sooner or later you will wind up with new lug nuts!

If you can live with a cheap fix, do this: sand and polish ONLY the top of each black lug nut. The polished end takes all of the attention away from the body of the lug nut.

If you are running Pcar locking nuts (one per wheel), you will have the classic "missing" look of four nuts and one weird-looking black-topped nut. This is the price of Fuchs...

You can buy a special plastic lined 19mm socket which will minimize the wearing off of the paint/annodization. I have seen it in the Perf Prod catalog, maybe Pelican has it.

Nick.
