Post Guns & P-cars, just a machine?

Let’s face it. We may spend time, energy, money maybe even love on our p-car, it is nothing more than just a machine. In the wrong hands, a high capacity pistol/high performance car, it is a deadly weapon. A pistol/car does not know right from wrong. It is the nut behind the trigger/wheel that causes sadness and bloodshed. Many people asked: “why would anyone uses guns for fun? It is dangoues. We should ban all guns. The same can be said about our beloved P-cars. Why would anyone want a 2000 plus pounds vehicle that can go up to 180 MPH, when the speed limit is only 65? What if your unstable child takes your P-car key, drove up to 180 and plow into a school bus full of kids? Are you responsible? Should we ban all P-car just because it has the “potential” to go too fast? I feel that education is the key. We can’t let a few irresponsible person causes “us” to make irrational decision.

The difference is that guns are designed to hurt, Porsches aren't!

Can we at least keep this kind of off-topic discussion confined to a single thread? It's harder to ignore when it spills back onto the board.

It's nice enough that Pelican gives us this space. Let's not act like a bunch of idiots. If it's a controversial political topic, and it isn't remotely Porsche-related, then you really should take it elsewhere.

Hear, hear Jack.

This board should be a source of info, fun and help to people interested in Porsche. It is being hijacked by narrow minded biggots who profess to the superiority of their way of thinking over others points of view. Could I remind you all that this is a discussion forum where all points of view are entertained. To try and supress other peoples thoughts by aggressive posts is not what it's about.

Shape up or ship out.

Man, you people haven't seen anything yet.

Some of the forums I visit daily are basically *filled* with off-topic post like these - and the posters there have *no* scruples about calling you names, trying to make you look like an idiot, or even going so far as to draw insulting cartoons of you, just because your opinion differed from theirs.

This is a friendly forum with lots of maturity. I generally would like to keep it that way, but then again, it's controvesial posts like the gun post and Leland's politics post that reveal the true nature of some of the people we converse with on a daily basis. Conservatives, liberals, even a few conspiracy theory wackos - who would've known?
