Replacing cruise clutch pedal switch

Anybody replaced their clutch pedal switch for the cruise control? I went through the Bentley diagnostic procedures and determined my clutch switch has died. I know where it is, but it seems like it would be impossible to get at for removal and replacement. Any words of wisdom out there?

Any replies?

Hi Dave - did you receive any secret clues re replacing the clutch switch - I need to replace mine too, but I can't see how one goes about doing it. Have you tried it yet?

Thanks, Harry

Remove the gas pedal and the floor board, peel back the center carpet and that should get you enough room to manuever. I think there is only one 10mm nut holding the switch down, been awhile since I was in there. Turned out the switch only needed adjustment, has worked ever since.

Good luck
Andrew

The screw holding the switch bracket in place is actually on top of the tunnel, so you need to move the carpet back. Once the screw is out you can remove the switch and bracket through the driver side hole where your accelerator pedal linkage comes out.
When you put the assembly back in you will note that the top screw is actually a slotted adjustment for positioning the switch to disengage at the proper time.
Good luck -

Replacing clutch switch

Hi Guys - thanks for the motivation! You got me going on the replacement of my clutch switch. Work shown on a 1983 911SC Cabriolet.

To get at the clutch switch (cruise control) you must move the center console enough to get access to the openning above the clutch switch bracket - this bracket (see pictures) is "L" shaped and bolted the the body floor with a couple of nuts and a "plate" - to replace the switch, you need to remove the "L" bracket which will then provide enough room to remove the clutch switch and repair or replace it. Note: best access to the openning was from the passenger's side

I made two minor modifications: 1) moved the slotted "L" bracket to the left, utilizing the slots in the "L" bracket on the right side of the bracket - this moves the switch's actuating arm to the left to make better contact with the clutch arm acutuator and 2) added a couple of 5mm nuts between the "L" bracket and the switch - the 5mm nuts slip easily over the 4mm mounting bolts that are used to attach the switch to the "L" bracket - the effect of this is to make sure that the actuating arm on the switch has full range of motion.
This project took a couple of hours and was relatively simple - just some hard places to reach with your hands.

Hope this helps!

Thanks, Harry
