Left Side Heater Block Off?

Hi:
Is there such a thing as a left side blockoff plate for a 3.0? I need to delete the heater duct from that side of the engine. I would imagine someone has one somewhere...

Are you using headers? Not recommended to use heat exchangers without air blowing through them even if it's vented overboard, e.g. heat exchanger-body heater hoses not installed.

Yes, I am using heat exchangers, not headers. In my case, due to the turbo plumbing, and the fact that it is just way too busy in that corner of the engine, I need to delete the heater outlet on the left side, I already have a heater outlet on the right side, which I had fabricated previously. So, what I'll do is use either the existing leftover fan, previously removed, or a new fan, mounted in the right rear past the oil tank. I can duct the outlet of the fan to a tee below the engine, and feed both heat exchangers like that. It is a major PITA to have the distributor, the wiring bundle for the 14 pin connector, a 2' and 3' turbo pipe and the oil feed for the turbo inside of a 1/2 cubic foot space.

I started fabricating a left side blockoff, but if I can buy one, why spin my wheels?

When you block off the airflow, what should you do about the heat exchangers (think SSIs)? Fine wire mesh clamped over the air inlet? Thanks in advance.

Heat exchangers should be removed and replaced with headers. Lot of heat build-up in the exchangers without air flowing through them.

And, before anyone starts an argument, do a search. This issue has been addressed before and the consensus is no air, no heat exchangers.

My thought was by using some wire mesh to keep debris out, their is still some airflow, albeit not at the same rate as you'd see with air forced through by the fan. Or am I just dreaming?

my ssi's are open like that with wire meshed clamped on the openings, believe it or not there's still plenty of heat coming in when I open the flappers and turn on the footwell blowers.
And even withhout the footwell blowers turned on there is still flow, just not as much.

I know this may shorten the life of the ssi's, but I don't really care.
I've had them open ended for three years or so

Well, I did get a block off...the Danny_Ocean link. strokher racing, check the for sale forum. Someone over there makes the blockoffs from steel.

Can someone tell me why exactly is it bad to run no forced air through the HEs?

I just ran all of my cabin heat out the right side plate...I'll post a photo.
