Rear Speaker Deck Removal?
How does one go about getting the Speaker deck out of a 1985 911 Coupe?
I would like to mount some more 'modern' speakers in the rear and still keep the original deck. I guess I would then ask if anyone has had any experiences mounting larger speakers in the deck? Thanks in advance for your help! Eric |

There are just 4 screws that hold it in place, 2 that also hold the leather strap for the rear seats and 2 below. The thing then just comes out. Also, if the screws are not tight enough it will come your way under hard braking!
I used a piece of fiber board to give an extra 3/4 inch of clearance and installed seperates into it. I covered the wood with that black "speaker cover" fabric and I don't ever really notice them. It imitates the look of the Boston Acoustics plate/speakers that is no longer made and had rotted from the sun. Oh, the wood thing is probably 5x8 ? ( the car is downstairs...). Jean-Paul Last point, the rear "deck" is unchanged in the whole process so you can always change it... |
