What are these?

I've always wondered, perhaps you have, too. Certainly someone knows.

Attachment point for leather straps to hold the luggage placed on the back seat. There are two more hooks on the rear parcel shelf. Someone posted a scan of a sales brochure showing these before, but I can't find it.

Edit

Here we go:

The straps on are usually on ebay, but I've only seen tan.

There are black on now, too.

I was worried but I guess there really are no dumb questions.

And I did try a search but search terms like, "bracket", "little bar" and "thingy" didn't work very well.

Porsche Crest

There was, at a time back in the '60s and '70s, that you could buy custom sets of black luggage to fill up the trunk and folded jump-seat area ... fitted to both Targas and coupes. As to whether genuine OEM or not, I don't know. I got a brochure from Stoddard's in the pre-PCNA days, and as most dealer stuff pushed by Porsche/Audi, it was so marked ... so it may have been a VWoA marketing idea. I never even bothered to look up a price in Stoddard's yellow price sheet, but I'm sure it is in there.

You can find them on ebay and they are real pricey. Its nice to know what they are for. I think Porsche sold some luggage to go with the cars. Bet that cost a bit also.

LOL, Careful what you're searching there, you could end up at the wrong site...

black luggage?

I've only seen tartan plaid. Great for going off to war against the English, but not a current fashion statement...

Sherwood - do you have any pics of the black?

Does anyone know how strong the lower strap holders are? I use it to hold the front of a child seat down for a bit of added protection should I ever be in an accident with my daughter in the back (it keeps the front of the seat from coming up at all). Are they welded or bolted on to the metal?

Thanks.

Screwed on to welded brackets. May not be strong enough for carseat.

Here are tan straps on ebay, usually have black, also
