How much oil
Finally finished with my conversion from 2.7 to 3.2 engine
So I filled (as mentioned in the manual) the engine with 10 L oil If I look to the "dipstick" there is only oil on the first 5mm ????? How much oil is there between min. and max. ?? Oh the engine was on temperature |

After refilling, did you drive it long enough to really reach operational temps ? Very important. Only slightly lower temps will show on the stick as false low values - giving the impression you need more oil. If the system was completely empty you probably need a little more, but I am not sure. Between low and high I think there is approximately 1.5 liter.
When I do an oil change it usually only takes about 9.5 liter, but that is leaving the oil in the lines to the cooler. So if you had a compl. empty system after engine swap, you probably need another liter or so. Just make sure the engine is HOT when measuring.

Hi LIVI
It's a engine swap, So engine was complete empty, oil return pipes, oil cooler,... Also the tank was complete empty... The pipes that run to the thermostate (on the front side of the right rear wheel) were complete empty only oil was left before the thermostate I also changed the oil filter So I guess i can fill 1 liter extra. Can anybody tell me what the level is on a cold engine?? |

You really can't tell when it's cold. That's the point. It needs to be running, hot and on level ground to check via the dipstick.

from what I have read, not experience, I hope you unplugged the fuel pump relay, cranked over the engine WITHOUT TRYING TO START IT to build up oil pressure, THEN, plug in fuel pump relay and start... a lot of places for oil to go to before start up
maybe not a big deal? definatley check level after engine fully warmed up and on level ground!!

If you have the front fender oil cooler as well. I believe that total oil capacity is 13 qts. If just doing an oil change, it usually takes 10 qts and a little more after car is warmed up to proper temp.

Porscheke:
If the entire system was empty, 12 liters to start with. You know that the level is checked with the engine HOT and RUNNING? Is this 3.2 a rebuild? Or straight swap? If it's a rebuild, change the oil and filter after ~1000km. If it's not a rebuild, just an engine that run before the swap, just change the filter after ~1000km. BTW: With winter temps, the external thermostat may not open. Get the engine hot and feel the lines going to the front oil cooler. Enjoy.
