Rear reflector-Black Letter why so Valuable?
I have been reading older posts about the reflectors being discontinued. I just picked up a spare with the parts car I got. I didn't figure it was worth anything and was going to sell it. I better keep it now for a spare. That is weird, that they are so hard to find.
What I am wondering is why NO aftermarkt Company doesn't make one? Shawn [This message has been edited by davis911s (edited 02-26-2001).] |

Most if not all replacement lenses availible are OEM,
I have seen the Black letter lenses for $500+ The black letter reflector looks complex with multiple stages and would probably cost $50,000+ in plastic injection tooling and a special injection machine so = higher production cost, its not worth it yet for anyone to remfr them |

What is a fair market value for a used one in great shape?

So does this mean my 84 911 just gained some extra value by having the black letter rear reflector?

Anyone that wants to pay $350 for mine, can have it! I wouldn't mind having a `87+ rear reflector and enough left over for a spring tune up!

I just bought the opaque Porsche lettered reflector for mine. $120 from my wholesale parts supplier. (another benefit of being a wrench) I like it better than the black lettering. More subdued and less ostentatious. I mean, who doesn't know it's a Porsche already? Anyway, if you buy the opaque one for a 74-77 you need to buy the hardware kit as well. It bolts on rather than clips on.

unfortunately the red letter reflector is not a direct swap. the panel it attaches to is a different shape.
