1. Dual Distributors: I see from the electrical diagram, that the No. 1 coil is the one with the solid green lead, while the No. 2 coil has the green & red. My dumb question is: Which Distributor is No. 1 and which is No. 2? Does it really matter?
2. I guess on a Porsche you call them "sill covers," but . . . anybody ever taken one off before? I want to get at the oil lines and connections along the right side of the car. It looks simple enough, but after I removed all the fasteners I could see, I was foiled by the 8 pins and clips that you can't see (the ones that keep the top of the sill attached). I didn't want to just pry them apart without knowing if I was going to screw it up. Anybody know how this is done, please? Thanks! ------------------ Steve '89 C4 |

Steve,
I cant speak to the ignition wiring. But, to remove the rockers you need to remove the end caps and slide the rubber piece out. You will find several sheet metal screws under here. Remove these, as well as the screws along the bottom and it should come right off. Good Luck. Nick. ------------------ _ _ __ _ _ Nick Shumaker 1982 911SC Coupe nickshu@yahoo.com |

#1 dist. is closest to fan. C2 and C4 rockers don't have screws on upper edge. they have white plastic pin clips that pop into red plastic sockets on the body. you're probably going to break some, and possibly the tang that holds the clip to the rocker. once the tang is gone, an epoxy style bonding agent is required to attach clip to rocker. you may get lucky if you're real careful.

Thanks for clarifying. From your answer, I assume that it does matter which coil is attached to which distributor. What would be the consequence of hooking them up backwards?
