I've got a 901 in my 69, it was rebuilt twice in it's lifetime @69,000ml and again @111,000ml. Hope that helps.

the weak point of 901s is the lack of support for the mainshaft bearing in the intermediate plate. the bigger the motor the shorter the life. i've seen advertized a billet intermediate plate that's said to improve this problem. may be worth the investment if you have a built or larger than 2.2 engine. my old 69 with a webered 2.7 would kill mainshaft bearings every couple of years. (that growling sound)
