Post Vaseline Please!

Today I tried the recommended use of Vaseline on the Fuchs of my 73. All I can say is "Wow!" The vaseline really did the trick. Of course the rims are pitted and really need some more work, but they look really good for the moment.

I don't remember who recommended the treatment(probably Warren), but I am now a believer. I would recommend trying this treatment on your tired old Fuchs. Thanks guys!

Bill

I believe that the owners manual that comes with the car recommends using petroleum jelly on the wheels. Who'd a thought?

Yes, the owners manual for many years recommended treating Fuchs with petroleum jelly.
The owners manuals are still available for most of the 911 models. They contain some useful information.

If we are supposed to use Vaseline on the Fuchs as they are anodised, does this also apply to the other polished trim (ie window frames, etc). I believe they are anodised too.

Thanks!

Cam,

I hadn't really thought of it, but I'm sure it would help the 'brite' aluminum trim from becoming 'foggy' just sa well, too! I guess we generally don't think about the trim as much as the Fuchs!

Ah, but the pimp inside me who is constantly struggling to get out wants all the shiny bits to be omigosh shiny.

And I have a black car, for extra contrast with the brightwork....
