Question Hollow or solid torsion bars

Anyone have experience with the hollow torsion bars? It would seem like these are the way to go, but then again...

What do think the advantages would be, other than weight? and how would saving weight in the torsion bars mean anything?

I asked the same question a few months ago. I wa told my 78SC would not benefit from hollow v. solid. Unless the weight of your vehicle is low, really low, any weight saved is not significant enough to justify the cost. I beleive the performance is the same. And with the additional $100+ saved with solid, you can use the money for other things. I went with solid since 10 lbs. or so is not worth the $$$.

For an 1800 lb track car that is trying to shave weight everywhere, alot. For an 2700 lb SC, very little.

When I was looking for torsion bars, I wondered the same thing. It seems like even a dozen pounds saved in unsprung weight would be worth the extra dollars. But I was uniformly advised to spend the money elsewhere.

Bruce Anderson and others recommend the Sander Engineering bars, by the way. If you decide to get some, email me. I've got a very affordable source for them.
