Allow me to "reintroduce" Ruby...

She is back to life, sort of. I've got some Motronic issues with her idle and part throttle, see thread http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/382299-new-3-2-rough-idle-part-throttle-after-smooth-strong.html#post3643267

But, fundamentally, I think the rebuild is sound as she pulls nicely, and has no "nasty" noises. She's got 15 miles on the odometer, and it feels good to have her back, albeit not at 100%. I know this can be solved, and I'd rather have this to deal with than an internal issue.

At any rate, here she is on a crisp Dallas Fall day, and she hasn't even been washed since March:

Nice! I like the color. The duck and the wheels work well with the brushed Targa bar.

Thanks, she was a paint-to-sample. When a certain "unnamed" person on this forum gets his forged 17" Fuchs replicas done, she's going back to that look with polished petals. That was the ultimate look for her, IMO.

I tell ya .. Iam not a Targa man.. but.. That is about the sharpest looking targa i have seen. The stance is right one..and it's a sweet color.

See, I disagree. i love the gold BBS on the car... they offset the color sell.

Looking good Ed. Glad to hear all is going well.

My guess is you have a big cigar and a beer right now, and you deserve it.

Regards,
Bob

I agree, she looks good with the wheels she has now, but the polished petal Fuchs were a better look, IMO. I had to ditch them when she got the 993 brakes all around. The sacrifices one has to make....;)

Are those 8's and 9's? I have the same set I use them as track wheels.

Rory Mckenna 12-13-2007 12:29 PM

I wish mine was done.. but at least we do share the same wheels.. I love them. You have a great 911.. It has gone thru some great changes since you have been on here.. all for the better..

Yes, with 225 and 245 MPSC's. They were/are my track wheels, but I Recently sold the 17" Kinesis I bought from Jeff Alton a couple of years ago. I'm at the point where I think I'll run R's all of the time. I've got a gift certificate from PCA for a free set of Yoko's. I'm going to order a set of 17" 225/255 A048's.

Moving to dry California next year should fit in with R's all year round.

Congratulations on being back on the road. Ruby always looks fantastic!

mtbguy 12-13-2007 01:19 PM

It looks awesome!

Mine was down for an engine rebuild last summer and I know how exciting it is to finally get back behind the wheel after months without your fix!
:)

Nice, very clean engine. Love the color.

Can I inquire as to where you got the air cleaner setup, everything looks very nice.

Originally, I got the setup from Evo, but it is now just a silicone elbow from Racer Parts Warehouse, with a male "nipple" connecting it to the cone filter.

Rudy looks great - and happy - even with her track shoes - Nice ed - the hard part is done - just details and then nothing for awhile (knock on wood)

if you were closer I'd buy you a beer and have a cigar with you - congrats - you deserve it.

Here's mine with her track shoes - I didn;t realize there were so many sets of 8's and 9's out there...

efhughes3 12-13-2007 03:17 PM

Thanks Jeremy. I keep telling myself the hard part is done, but I've been studying Motronic trouble-shooting for the last hour. Tomorrow, I'll go thru it all and see what I find. It may still be goofy injector issues. If I don't find something, they're going back to Witchhunter for test and recleaning.

JeremyD 12-13-2007 03:31 PM

my guess would be injectors - and I believe you pick up alot of crud (of the sticky kind) waiting for parts to come in.

I had similiar issues (which are even more pronounced with the 993 cams) and ended up replacing my ICV too.

check your grounds too - transmission and engine -

JeremyD 12-13-2007 03:33 PM

did you change your fuel filter too?
