Question Help from the Spark Chasers Please

I hope that you all can help me. I'm putting a 3.0 from a '79 SC into my '77. The only obvious difference in the wiring is that the '77 has a 3 pin CD box and the '79 has the 6 pin. Can I just replace the original 3 pin with the box that I have retained from the '79??? And are there any other problems that I will encounter??
Thanks a bunch!

Well, unless you got the wiring harness with the 6-pin CDI connector, it will be a little more complicated than just a 'bolt-in' swap ... but following Pelican's (or Haynes, p. 297) wiring diagram for an SC and making sure all of the wires from the CDI-unit get to the appropriate terminating point is relatively easy! That assumes you are comfortable cutting wires and crimping 1/4" quick-disconnects onto said wires!

I'm not positive whether the '77 tach. will work with the signal from the '6-pin CDI-units ... you may need a later tach. as well.
