CIS test gage set - tell me I have the right one please...
My car is a 1983 with stock 3.0 and CIS:
I have not seen the CIS fittings enough on my car to know if this is the right test gage set or not. I got impatient with the order from JC Whitney (it was taking forever) and found this one for sale. It was advertised for use with Porsche CIS systems. There is a reference in the paper manual with it to Bosch L & D Jetronic, but not K Jetronic, which is what I have right? There is also a reference to Porsche fuel pump pressure as 28.4 psi. This tester is the Matco FIT13APB model. I have attached pictures. Can someone verify this is the right one or not? Thanks for entertaining my stupid question of the day... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1197700155.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1197700199.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1197700237.jpg |
you might need to make up some adapters... go to a wrecker and pull some FI lines off of an early VW rabit, cut them down and make up what you need.

Wrong one.

Shane, you need one that has a valve to allow you to isolate the flow from the fuel distributor to the WUR. That will give you System Pressure. JC Whitney sells a kit for about $60 bucks that has a 3-way valve that also holds the pressure gauge.

That's Not a CIS Fuel Gauge Kit.......
Shane,
The one in the picture will not work for your CIS even with a correct fitting. It will not be able to measure the control and system fuel pressures. Do you need one before X'mas? I have another set (new) that you could use while you're waiting for your kit. I just threw away the envelope with your address that was used for the SC badge. PM me your shipping address and it will be on its way to Tennessee (correct???). Happy Holidays!!!!! Tony |
I am not in a hurry Tony, but I definitely appreciate the offer. If anything changes I will contact you Thanks.
Thanks guys, I thought something was missing, but could not put my finger on it.. I need a T and a valve right. I may have some misc fittings, otherwise, I will check at HD or Lowe's on that. I got this kit on the cheap, so I am ahead on cost so far... might be worth just adding what I need. What about the fittings though, as far as hooking into my fuel injection? I think UncleBilly said I did not have the right fittings. Is that true then? Thanks guys. I know it would probably be easier to sell this and buy the rigth one, but since I have it here, and I got it cheap, I just wanted to see what exactly I needed to make it work with my 83. Thanks again! |
Hard to tell what the fitting sizes are, but I don't think they are right either. I'll snap a picture of the kit I have for you, Shane.

Shane,
The fitting that my plastic calipers are on is 10mm straight threads. It goes into the fitting on the FD. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1197747169.jpg |
