Yeah, I saw that too. Apparently he has some documentation to support his claim. But 100K?

The first Turbo year was 1975, for ROW cars. There are several in the USA but were not PCNA imported.

Pretty sweet, but I think I'd stick with a Ruf CTR1. More exclusive, and who really cares if it's the first one, unless you're a collector, and just want it sitting in a garage.

What makes this a pre-series car? How does it make it worth more? This is very interesting to me. I own a 75 911s 9115200012 the po bought it used from the factory too. Its an intersting conversation starter but how does it make money?

The factory sold some "interesting" used cars back in the day. There was a good article about one of Ferry's personal RS's in (I think) Excellence a few months ago. Heck, maybe your car has some cool untold stories yet to tell. Brian

Agreed. It presents well for a higher-mileage car.

I would love to know who that guy called to get that kind of documentation from Porsche. the general consensus from reading here is that Porsche is less than reliable.

Maybe the California guys know this car, since it's in Beverly Hills. Is it possible that some celebrity with factory connections owned it?

Brakes have been updated and I like the plate "Running Late". Not sure what was the first year these cars came to the US, but early '75 they were avail. for purchase in Europe.

hmmmm 100K for a 111,000 non intercooled turbo with upgraded brakes? It does have a build date of 8/75 - but still - wow -

America is of course Porsche's largest single market, and the Turbo was one of the most significant introductions by Porsche, for a variety of reasons.
The documentation on this car is interesting, and it probably is the earliest U.S. version Turbo to exist, and does appear to be one that was used for some purposes by the factory (although not sure that alone really means much). Because of that, IMO it isn't just a regular old non-intercooled Turbo, and it has some collector value both now, but esp. in the future. How much extra value now? Hard to say. If it were just a regular '76 930 with 110,000 miles on it, it would be worth what . . . maybe high teens or up to $20K? Is it worth 5X that right now, I don't really think so, but with a car like this, it's hard to tell. If someone really, really is into collecting Turbos and wants the earliest US legal version that will likely ever be available, maybe it is. |

Nobody will buy that. Who cares what number in a series a mid production car is. Its not like its a long hood or something, or the first 356. Its just a variant of the 911. With the logic this genius appraiser is using then the first 996 would be valuable too but its not, its just a 3.4 liter car with ugly headlights.

The opening bid is $85,000, so I'll politely disagree on nobody buying it. The car will eventually move at a significant premium over a comparable non-special 930. The major factory documentation is dated 1989-1990 (possibly reflecting friendlier times for enthusiast research at Porsche AG?). Absurdly low-number cars don't appear on the market every day and the 930 Turbo was a significant, raise-the-benchmark model. It's introduction was perhaps even a risky, audacious move on the part of Porsche considering the emissions and fuel economy issues of the time period.

that would be 85,000 and 0 Zero bids.
But as they say in the used car business - there is an a$$ for every seat. On another note - I particularly like the early turbo carreras - light weight - hand fitted flares - not heavily optioned (like a lot of the later Turbos) raw and proud of it.
