Sunroof Cable Adjustment

Here's to my first real repair and its already a PITA, well anyway here goes.

The sunroof on my 87 911 just jammed. The drivers side rear was lowering to retract but the passenger side was stuck in the up position. I first tried to gently persuade the panel to go down but no luck. I found the awesome post by Jhubs on 11/08/07 which walked me thru the disassembly (I can't thank you enough the post was a sanity saver) then I came across my first problem, the drivers side rear track/cable stop screw was broken off at the head. Back to the basic skills and I finally have it very carefully drilled out and will re tap later today. On the passenger side the screw came out but was stripped. Looking at it, it looks like it was incorrectly set at a slight angle and forced in. (is it possible schnapps at lunch in Stuttgart?) I'll just tap this one as well, no problem.

On to my question, the cables are off by a 1/2". The drivers side is 1/2" closer to the rear of the car than the passenger side. Before I venture blindly into the unknown and get to the motor assembly does anyone know if the cables are adjustable at any point? Thanks

Vince
