Question Electric superchargers?

http://www.electricsupercharger.com/

This cite was on Rennlist. $299 for 15 hp. Anyone hear of this? Is seems it would go well with a Folgers exhaust system.

I think I could find a better way to spend $300. In my opinion it seems like a scam kinda like a mechanic in a can. I think you would notice a "psychological" difference I doubt this thing would give you 15 more hp. considering an exhaust sysyem may give you 20 at a cost of almost 2 grand...just my opinion though..if any of you other Porsche owners have 300 to burn try it out and let us know if it works..hehe.

That is interesting. The unit runs at the same RPM regardless of engine RPM or engine displacement.

Based on what I remember from my fluid dynamics class (mostly painfull memories) I think that means that the boost will drop as engine RPM climbs and engine displacement grows.

Interestingly they don't mention anything about engine RPM except to say that that gains are from 3000 on up. They do acknowledge that 5.0 liter and up engines don't see gains (consistent with my comment) but don't say that the gains would taper off as you approach 5 liters.

I wonder about detonation with a stock distributor curve. Course 1 psi boost is not that much.

Its amazing how many times the exact same thread gets recycled. Every 6 months or so, for years, the "e-ram" tread pops up on car boards, including this one.

Not a criticism of you, pbs911, just an observation in general.

Try doing a search on this board, though, you should be able to find the old threads.

Sorry Jim,
Didn't mean to take up your day and I didn't mean to offend. It it was meant as a joke. Besides, there are plenty of "old" topics being brought up all the time and there are plenty of new people joining the board. I believe topics such as polishing fuchs, and v-8 conversions have been brought up in the past. Limiting this board to "new" topice would serious cut down the volumn and fn many of the BBS users have when we escape from the work day. Just thought I'd share.

So, if one is good, then three is better - RIGHT? I mean that could stomp the guts out of a Paxton. I knew $8K was too much for those shinny things! Give me black plastic any day!

This topic has popped up many times here and on the rennlist.

There may be some (teeny tiny) merit to this gizmo, but basically it has been a regular source of "entertainment" on BMW and Porsche lists for about 3 years now...
