Pic of early seatback frame for repair purpose.
I have standard buckets in my 70T with both outer seatbacks bent back from years of being used to get in and out of the car (by previous portly owners?). Before I take the backs apart, to try to straighten them, I'd like to know what I am getting myself into. I am afraid I won't be able to put it back together stuffing and all.
Anyone have a pic of one? Thanks. Ulrich |

I likewise have odd linkage motion in my drivers side and am somewhat puzzled over how to repair.
Description: Passenger side works perfectly - as you push the seatback forward, both chrome "L-shaped" members lift off of the seat rail stops simultaneously. Drivers side - as you push the seat back forward the outboard L-shaped member lifts off well before the inboard member lifts off. For normal driving, the seatback does not feel solid and tips slightly outboard. There is a "torsion bar-looking thing" and gear tracks that are supposed to synchronize both sides of the seat back. Clearly not synchronized properly, and related to the seatback angle adjustment. Seats are stock (non-sport) Recaros. I should add that I recovered the drivers seat a few years ago, and one day, "something slipped" This has got to be an old pelican thread with hopefully some exploded part views available. This is my next repair project and I can post some photos for you by this upcoming weekend. |

Does this help? Not sure what year your car is.

Thanks - its a 1971 E. The view looks correct for my seats - and I presume yours too. Not quite enough detail, and I recall that when you reassemble the seat (on the kitchen counter of course), there are a lot more "engagements" and fasteners than you remember when disassembling.
I would doubt anything is bent in your seat backs, just something has slipped a cog. I'll be diving into my issue this weekend, and should be able to post some images if that helps. Good luck. |

Yes please. I'd like to see a pic of the seatback frame.
