I have a '81 SC that I bought in '98. I put new tires all around, and had an alignment done. At 9500 miles my rear tires were gone, it turns out that the right side, rear, is toed in, and when adjusted to the extreme will not toe straight.
I replaced the spring plate bushings with Neatrix bushings and replaced the trailing arm bushings with Poly-Graphite, still not straight. While the spring plates were off I looked in the torsion tubes, all appeared straight. My conclusion: must have a bent trailing arm. I want to keep the aluminum arms, and I found a decent deal for a pair of arms, (I would like to replace both while I'm in there), but they have the Ball/Socket anti-roll bar link, and I have the bolt on type. My question is: can the Ball/Socket type arms be modified to work. I don't have the two arms to compare. Is the boss in the same location? Can the ball stud be removed by either cutting or extracting, and the boss drilled and tapped? Should I pass on the deal, and keep looking for the right arms.
