Help! I Cannot Stop This Addiction!
Whats with me? I cannot stay out of my 1973.5T these days. I go run a short errand and I drive 100 more miles before coming home, then I go back out and hit the road again? Its got to be the weather and this amazing machine. I mean Porsches are meant to be driven not garaged and covered, right?
When I bought my 1979SC with a whopping 24,000 miles on it way back I put 29,000 miles on it the first year doing the same thing...................just driving! It has to be a deeper affliction. Not midlife crisis, hell, I went through that already. Aspiring to be a great race car driver? No, a spin out in a Formula 440 on the track left me freaked out enough to back off of that years ago. It certainly isn't racing rice burners! I think its just the shear joy and rapture of headin down the road in a 911. Nothin beats it......I am sure you all can relate... For those of you who do not know me, I turn 60-years old this February! Ain't life great? Bob 1973.5T Sepia of Course:cool: |
Welcome to the addiction. I take my SC out every chance I get when the weather is good. While not daily driven, I enjoy just "drivin". I spend a lot of time(300+ miles a week, instate) on the road for my job but, even so, when I get home, I still try to find a reason to get the SC out.
Yes, life is GREAT, Bob. |
Great way to kickstart a Sunday morning. These cars are happiest when they're out on the road......just like most of us I'm sure. I'm looking forward to a nice Sunday drive today in the beautiful Sonoran desert. Does the term 'Sunday driver' apply when you're on boost?;)
Oh, and Happy Birthday Bob! Bill 1986 930 |
The addiction does not go away. I know, turned 70 last Friday.

Bob,
I also found my self having a boyish fun with my Carrera. Makes me feel like I am back in the awesome 80's again! Now I just have to add a 70's Z28 to help me relive that rockin' period; with a skateboard with SIM wheels too.... Glad you are a boy again!!! |

There is a really bad blizzard out, I still wanted to go driving in the 911. Better judgment one and I took the beater. I understand your addiction.

i know what you mean.i think i put less than 100 miles on my motorcycle last year.nothing better than driving thru red rocks park in my '86 coupe.

I know what you mean. I take my '89 3.2 out on weekend mornings to get the paper. Its a 12 mile direct drive to the gas station were I gas up and get the paper.
Problem (its not really a problem) is that I take the long way via a nice loop with great curves and scenery. By the time I get home I've driven 50-75 miles to "get the paper". I do this on nice weekdays after work as well. Get home in the DD then go back out in the P car for a "paper". I've been doing these long paper runs for as long as I've been driving...over 36 years now. Of course I did not have the 911 then but drove/road what ever I had at the time. Have had several BMW's as well as other neat cars in the past. Still have my M3 as well as the '06 GTI and several motorcycles. Wife does not fully understand this. Friends and co-workers just flat think I'm nuts. Anyway...we just got our first blast of snow and salted roads. :( Hope for some rain soon to clean off the salt. David |
What's the problem?
Just be thankful you can drive now, we have 40cms of snow accumulating as I write this... Like I said in my previous post, thank goodness for Subaru... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-discussions/382709-why-isnt-all-bad-911-tucked-away-winter.html |
