Not another RS Clone (update)

Well, took much longer than anticipated to get all the pieces of the puzzle together from my last post....(I guess that is why they call them project cars).

Got the car running on all cylinders a little over a week ago in a static condition, (2.7L RS spec except has 40mm webers instead of injection) drove it for a total of about 15-20 mins to get the carbs tweaked, etc around my mechanics shop and figured what better to break in an engine then to run it at an Autocross event. Get those revs going up and down. So my buddy (pelicanite Mad Mike) and I went out to see what she was really made of at the Arizona region PCA autocross today. The nice thing about the AZ club autocross is it kind of a time trial/autocross where you get 1 warm up lap and 3 timed laps on an autocross layout course. So good testing grounds (and Mike desiged the course special for us).

I have to say, this car flat out screams! It goes like a raped ape! And handles amazingly well. I guess elephant, bilstein and smart racing know what they are doing. Car placed 2nd and 3rd overall, fortunately Mad Mike was taking it easy on my ego and let me win the battle. Definitely made the journey well worth the destination. I can't wipe the grin off my face. My wife is already done with me talking about it and I have only been home for 30 mins. I have a new appreciation for the early 911 and what they can do. A little more work with the right foot, but a completely involved, intense rush for sure.

The only thing I think I need is a limited slip, too much wheel spin when getting on the throttle with the unloaded wheel and tire. Other than that, the handling was phenomenal.

Here is my last post and a few updated photos. Waiting on some action shots from today! THANK YOU DR. PORSCHE! and THANK YOU PELICAN PARTS!

It turned out great! Mad Mike (my brother, by the way) can't stop talking about it either. He called me about 5 times today to rave about what an amazing car you've built!

Now you need to help him finish his car :-)

The car is a total sleeper. Looks like a docile older 911. Not the case. Sounds and feels like a race car. As I spent more time in a throttle steer than actually steering the car. Lightweight and more than enough power, leaving rubber out of ALL the turns. This car is BAD ASS!
