Lighting questions...

I was wondering why exactly my 911T is wired such that you can only turn on the lights when the key is on? I looked at the wiring diagram for my car, and sure enough, the headlights and taillights are wired up to the ignition switch. This seemed kinda weird to me, but I guess it keeps you from running down your battery if you forget to turn them off. The hazards work all of the time though, so that is good...
