I have a 70 911E with 16x6 Fuchs wheels and 205/55/16 tires all around. They look good. I'm not sure if the wheel spacers have been changed but I can find out what size they are if you wish.
As for the transmission I wouldn't change it unless there is something wrong with the one you have. It should be plenty strong enough for your power output. |

I did a sporto/915 conversion a few years ago on a 2.4L '73. No major problems. If you purchase a tranny that needs rebuilding you have the opportunity to swap gears to help the 2.2L out a little. You should really like the 5spd much more than the sporto.

I too have 16's on my narrow body (stock flairs) 75 coupe. the fronts are 16 J6 rears are 16 J7. Tires are 205 all around (can't remember the profile). I did have to roll my drivers' side rear fender but other than that they work great. I am interested in fitting c2 cup wheels but I'm unsure about what will fit. I speculate that I may be able to fit 17X7's all around but my theory has yet to be proven. Anyone have any experience with this?

Mine is a stock body '70E with 16x6 all around. 16x7 would not fit on rear. 205-55 front, 225-50 rear.

My previous car was a 70T and I bought it with the wheels now pictured on my 75 in the post above (16 x 6 front, 16 x 7 rear). They did not rub on the 70. Marc, the difference is I have/had 205's all around. I also noticed on my 70T (which is no longer with us thanks to a high speed Bambi incident) the rear drivers' side fender lip was ground off (with a grinder). The 7's are nice on the rear because they have a deeper dish which gives the appearance of a wider arse end. Once I get home I'll post a pic of the 1970T with the 16x6 16x7s.

Mark,
Your car looks almost exactly like my 73T! What color is that anyway? I think it is the same color that mine was before a cheap repaint. Check out my car. http://www.geocities.com/william_armentrout/porspage.html Bill ------------------ William Armentrout 1973 911T 2.7 carerra rs specs www.geocities.com/william_armentrout |

Matt, real sorry to hear about the 70. That's a shame that one of those rodents would kill an innocent Porsche.
Bill, from what I could tell, the colors are about the same. My car was originally green, but was repainted (and I hate to admit this) a 1977 Cadillac silver. It's a pretty color, but when I paint it, will go back to a Porsche silver correct to the year. ------------------ Mark B. Wilson mbwilson@home.com http://www.marksobsessions.20m.com/ '70 911E |
