All that seems fine, when it is in gear on the hoist and you turn the wheels by hand you can hear the clunk either in diff or trany, just seems very loose although no grinding when shifting

just wondering if anyone has had the same issues because summer is short up here and I don't want to take it off the road if it is not going to turn into something major.

more often than not those symptoms are diff related... from my previous experience anyway.

could be CV's otherwise, or even engine/gearbox mounts?

Check the oil for bits. It could be that the spacer separating the spider gear needles has broken, allowing the tiny needles to spill out. The resulting slop could then cause a knock. Other than that, ring gear bolts that have worked their way loose for some reason?
