Cost experience of body kits.

I am giving consideration to putting a STEEL turbo body kit on my 77 S. I can buy the kit for less than $800, not including the spoiler.

What do you think it will cost to have those welded on and then color matched to the car? My 77 is the metallic maroon - same as on the Clymer manual. I have always heard that red and black are expensive pigments as well as being hard to match.

There's no telling about the cost of the flare job, you'll need to shop around.

As for the paint, as small as the 911 is I would recommend shooting the whole car. It's not that much more paint considering how much will already have to be painted.

Is that a kit from AJ's?

Vip,
These must be add on flares at 800.
If you want your car to be worth anything when it's all said and done, then Don't have a body man do it with bondo/fiberglass. Find the old timer weld/lead bodywork guys. It's probably going to bust you a new one to do this, and perhaps is the reason why most will just buy the front OEM 930 fenders for upwards of 1500-2000, and just add on the rears(I did this). I have no idea of costs..sorry..go through the ph book and ask if they do lead work...

Viper,
I looked into this option myself and got a wide range of estimates. The most important thing is that you can see pictures or other proof of the quailty and craftmanship of the install. Make sure they have a good reputation. The highest quote I got here (in Canada) was $2000 CAD (this didn't include paint) and they had LOTS of experience working on exotics and the lowest was $500 CAD from a guy who has only done one Porsche but I saw the job and it was very impressive. You'll have to check with some of the shops hearby to see what they want for the job.

I advocate buying factory front fenders...you get get them all day long for $1000--figure resale you can get for your fenders, price of front flares, and body work time; you will be money ahead.

Paint the entire car, it will not be significantly more expensive (be sure to pull the glass).

Expect to spend $3000-5000 on paint and body.
