I put domestic black carpet in the 911 and abandoned the easily stained original tan. Well the seats are tan still, along with the doors.
How can I describe. Well, I'll put a pic up tonight after I get the rest back together. Yes, it's comical. It's so comical, I can now count on the additional $1,000 for new matching black interior. What is "German Vinyl?" ------------------ Kurt B '84 Carrera Cab. carrera_cabriolet@yahoo.com |

Are your seats leather?
If so, you can get excellent results changing them to black. see leatherique.com. It is AWESOME stuff. |

Mine was worse. You can re-cover the door panels, stain the tricky parts black with vinyl paint, and either stain the seats or get them re-covered professionally. (Click on the picture to see more.)

Hello
German Vinyl ? Porsche uses an fabric called SKAI witch is made by the Hornschuh company. This is a much heavier and softer material then known from other companys. Prizes for the raw is very high compares to cheap real leather. Some skai´s have special grains or structure depending on year. If NLA you mostly have to use leather. Hence new factory leather is cheaper then 70´s skai. Collectors don´t care abot money but the wrong fabric makes an good car useless for them or they cut the price. Well can´t follow your thoughts. Just why did you put an black carpet in ? No tan carpet in the staates ? Now not only the seats also the other tan parts look missmatching. Sorry for the stupid question, but i´m german and can´t follow american thought´s somehow. Grüsse |

German carpet in the color was available at a reasonable price. Everything is available in the US for the right price--and this wasn't even expensive.
The problem with replacing with tan is that I drive my car everywhere often with the top down. If anything gets on that tan, it shows. And for the 550$ it costs for German + the 2 weeks each night it's taken putting it in, I really don't want to deal with having stained carpet in a year. And lastly, the black is meaner ![]() However, in looking at it now, the tan leather is old and weathered, so it is darker. It is not ripped or stained really, and does not look bad, and the black tan actually doesn't look too bad. I'm going to put a pic up today and let you guys be the judge. ------------------ Kurt B '84 Carrera Cab. carrera_cabriolet@yahoo.com |
