Insurance experts,..please respond:::
Guys,
In a nutshell: which insurance carriers (based on your experience) DO NOT require your P-car to be garaged? Do they even exist? I do undertsand that most do require this,..still,..are there others who don't (and charge accordingly)? Thanks!

It's mostly the vintage, Sunday driver with tons of restrictions that get you a low dollar premium companies that require that.
Screw it...if I wanna drive to work or go get a six pack, I'll pay the extra bucks for daily driver insurance...

mikez: I'm the same way. I'm with GEICO (3 cars). My real ONLY concern is with valuation of the Porsche should something happen (God forbid). I've had her a bit over a year now, purchased at $21K. I'm sure the insurance policy is stated value (as we've not "agreed to" anything as to value) I prefer to have an "agreed to value" policy.
Guess it's time to give GEICO a call to discuss. A friend told me that they have some type of "special car" division (requires low use, must be garaged and will provide me a quote as to an "agreed to value" policy. All I really want to do is have GEICO provide me this type coverage with NO mileage limitation, no garage requirements, etc. Let's see what shakes... Thanks!

I was with Progressive and they asked me what it was worth and wrote the policy based on that number. Simple as that.

USAA doesn't have any such restrictions normally. Great company to deal with. But, not everyone is eligible for coverage by them.

I am going through an insurance valuation hassle right now. Extremely frustrating, to say the very least. It looks as if the end game is going to involve a pair of professional appraisers. The initial valuation of my car was about $9K. The end result is likely to be something North of $12K. If I get a chance, I would be vigorously in support of legislation that fines insurance companies where the professional appraiser's figure is more than 30% higher than the initial settlement offer. ESURANCE offered $9K because they can. Not because that is a Planet Earth value, but just because that's the game they deliberately play. And it will be a huge hassle to achieve fairness. Again, I would like to see insurance companies get stung badly when they negotiate in bad faith. They are not about fairness or even security.
I strongly recommend an agreed-value policy.
