Question RS "Look" Valuations...

I know that they are a few highly prepared, big buck Replicas/clones/lookalike cars on this Forum but I'm more interested in what a decently/moderatlely prepared RS lookalike would go for...

For Example, what would a car like this sell for...

RS Clone built on a rust free 73 911 T Chassis (approx 89,000 miles)
2.7 RS "Spec" motor built with a 911S case, "E" cams, PMO 40 carbs , new SSIs
915 standard transmission with new clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing..
6 year old baremetal respray (looks great)
Lightweight interior
Built with real RS flares...

Car looks to be well built, in Great Condition, no rust, all seams straight...

Would be interested in some ballpark values and any comments from owners who have built similar cars on what it would cost today to build such a car...

TIA

US westcoast car I would estimate 18 - 25K. A little more in the east. I'm sure it would cost in excess of 40K to build.

Try posting this on the marketplace forum. You'll get more feedback.

Just came across this thread...don't know how I missed it. Here's a few tidbits:

My '73 is a frankenstein out of the parts bin. The fellow that built it for me has a slew of used race parts that he drew from. I'll briefly outline the main components:

'73 San Diego clean tub with flares and body panels, color original.
2.4 Ltr S motor with Weber conversion by PMO back in '77 (who knows why?)
34 row fender mounted oil cooler (TRG)
Short geared 915 since the car is mainly tracked
Coil over suspension with custom Bilsteins (TRG)
16 X 7 & 9 Fuchs
Charlie bars front and rear
SC/Carrera front struts/brakes/rotors
Headers/Dansk dual in/out exhaust
Fabcar rollbar
Fuel Safe cell
Recaro SPGs

Probably have around $40k in the car. Extremely well handing at around 2150 wet. Runs out of steam at long tracks (Road America) but a blast at most.

The problem is that the roll bar & etc. suggest very hard (track) usage -- that greatly limits the size of the buyer pool. But, it fyou find the right buyer (track nut) you have sold the car.

It is very clean looking, that's for sure.

My guess is you can value it between a decent T and a decent E.

Peter,i think your alking about a 40 -50 k car here particularly if it's prepped professionally or by someone with a lot of experience.
Of course you may defray some of the expense by buying used parts off the board and doing quite a bit of the set up and adjustment ie; dialing in ,your self.
Oh and by the way this may or may not include the initial cost of the car itself!

Notice that both cars pictured have the standard S front spoiler, not the one with the additional oil cooling grille in the middle. If you're putting a 2.7 in there, I'm guessing you'll need that extra cooling.

As long as there is a good fender-mounted cooler, that'll often do the job with a 2.7RS-spec engine.

My car has a 34 row oil cooler from from TRG...though it's only a 2.4, I've never had it get above 220* even on 95* days. Most times it runs around 200-210*. Pics are of same car, just different lighting.

Wow...talk about an old threat being revived...
Thanks to all that have replied...Just to update, the car I had originally asked about was sold a few hours before I contacted the seller..Oh well, that's how the game goes...

Since then, I have had a change in direction and purchased a 1970 T with a 68 2.0 liter "S" motor that I am planning to running as a semi-vintage racer..
I still very much like the "RS" look and maybe one day will find the right one..In the meantime I will enjoy my 1970 NB and will turn it into my interpretation of a 911R...

I love my 1995 993 but there is something about the older 911s that I just love and they are so many fine examples on this board like Jmatta's FrankenMeanie...God I love that car and so does my wife, she just loves the color...Maybe she'll let me have another if it's Green...

Your words are kind CanuckRS...I'm glad you found an early car you can have fun with. I started track events with an '87 Carrera, then "upgraded" to an RS America with quite a few modifications. I then had the opportunity to drive some early cars on the track and fell in love. I sold the RSA to finance this car; totally different experience. The difference in weight is far more pleasing than the power differential. I can just toss this car and enjoy it's balance. Of course, had to include a pic of my old RS with driver near by!

One other thought; though I track this car alot, I work very hard to keep it in nice condition. Here's a pic with a friend's '72 . Mine got the day off!

I use to track a 92 Mustang 5.0 Coupe and that was a hell of a car...Very few Porsches could keep up with it... When I stopped racing, I sold it and bought my 993...It's been a few years now and I'm ready to get back on the track, hence the 1970 T...It's going to be alot of fun learning to drive this car after coming from big horsepower but that's part of the appeal...learning to be a momentum driver...
Here's a pic of the 70 911t..

Super looking car! You're going to track that beauty? Looks like a concours candidate to me. I know exactly what you mean by momentum driver...I'm usually on the track with alot of higher HP cars (GT3s, etc)...got to watch my mirrors constantly, but it's still fun.

I get that alot...You're gonna track that car !! That's the plan...It's in very good shape but the guys I'm going to be running with and all very well mannered..They're in it for fun just as I am...Just have to watch my mirrors for that pesky original GT40 and Mclaren CanAm car that come out to play ocasionally....I'm thinking of installing a grappling hook so I can hitch a tow down the front straight..
