Car height question???

I just went out and measure the distance of the fender to the ground. The rears were both at 24" the front the drivers side was 25.5 and the passenger side was 25. What should they be? The car is an 81 911SC with 16" fuchs all around. Thanx in advance.

They should be 25" at the rear and 25.5" at the front. Measure to the torsion bar centers to get accurate side to side comparisons.

When setting the rear, jack the nose of the car up in the very center just ahead of the gas tank so that the car can pivot off this point. I use a short piece of pipe cut length ways and set it on the pad of a floor jack. It must be dead centered using the center drain hole as an index.

Raise the nose of the car until the front tires are just off the ground. The rear swaybar must be disconnected. Now measure the rear height side to side and adjust until they are within 1/4" of each other. The closer the better. When you get the proper balance, drop it down and drive the car to settle the suspension and recheck height. The front will likely need balancing afterward with the swaybar disconnected as well to compensate. Again, measure at the torsion bar centers for accuracy. The fender gaps are not precise enough for anything other than a rough guide.
