Thumbs up Steve Wong euro chip first impressions with pics....

Put the SW euro chip in my 85 ROW set to 91 octane for CA. Dansk premuffler sans 02 sensor otherswise stock ROW.

I ran the car out to Borrego Springs to test it out. Its smoother, punchier, more grunt down low, mid and up high...just as everyone has said. It really does feel like a completely different car. Seems to rev quicker and freer. 1st and 2nd are much livelier. The car feels distinctly faster in "city" driving and on the highway. I don't know. I'm really astounded that I waited this long to do it.

I need to put this on the dyno to see what a stock ROW with euro premuffler puts out....I'd be very interested to know.

Thanks Steve. You are a genius!!!

Cool. I love my SW chip also.
Nice ride and pics. Wondering....why does your euro car have USA bumpers? Was this required to legalize it here? If so, why aren't other euro's here with USA bumpers?

Awesome shots! It looks like you were the only one out there! I'm not surprised to hear good things from Steve's chip. Some day, some day...

Its a great question. And the answer is....I don't know. My car was brought into the US by my cousin in 1985. Therefore, I am fully aware of its history. The car made it through by slapping on a catalytic converter (with no 02 sensor) and rear USA bumperettes and front side marker lights....otherwise it was a completely untouched euro...from its original H4 headlights, rear foglight and euro DME...go figure...very unusual. My car slipped through the gates rather unmolested by the feds...thankfully.

Great pics of a lovely car. Wish our climate allowed me to go for a nice drive right now. Alas, not until April. Salt, salt,salt...

SW´s chips have found their way all the way to Sweden. Installed one in my ROW stock Carrera last year. Definitely a significant improvement.

So I guess now we are all waiting for Loren to 'chip' in !

Congrats. Steve's chip is awesome. Provided your car has good tires, brakes, and other basics taken care of the next few hundred any 3.2 owner should do (in my opinion) is get the sw chip- you cannot be disappointed.

Nice car too!

I agree....for the money spent there is just nothing else with bigger bang for the buck. This car will remain "ROW stock" otherwise....its plenty fast for me now and the driveability improved dramatically.....thats what impresses me the most. Its somewhat hard to describe to someone who hasn't driven the car with the chip....but boy do I get it now My gas mileage has gone up marginally as well....while driving the car harder. I don't get it.

The only downside to the chip is I want to redline the car much more often than I used to...its seems to get up in the high rpm range that much easier and quicker.....to be quite honest I didnt spend that much time 5k and above pre-chip.

BTW I had a similar experience with my OBDI 95 M3 and Jim Conforti's chip....it transformed that car as well.

I just ordered and received an updated chip from Steve W. to delete my O2 sensor and upgrade to Euro specs and min 91. WoW? It makes such a difference that can be felt. Smoother accelleration across the board. Amazing. It feels like a completely different motor.

I am so sold on his product.

If you do anything to your car, I would start with one of his chips.

Dan,
Our cars seem very similar. How do you like your Dansk sport muffler/premuffler combo with regards to sound and fitment?

LOL! If I only knew that there weren't any issues that I'd find 'when I'm in there', I'd have already placed an order! I still want to do an exhaust before the chip though. If there are no issues, I'll try to do the exhaust pretty soon...

Sounds like good results. What octane rating are you normally running in the car with the new chip?

there is no difference in the g-model bumpers themselves - simply the rear bumperettes and front side markers (which were, apparently, changed)

Just out of curiosity, were you reffering to these?
